Summer of 2010:

      Any band member going into 9th or 10th grade should check www.wmea.org for the audition excerpts for All-State & All-NW Band. We'll be recording your audition in early October (see calendar below).

       

      Any band member going into 8th grade should have their audition music for Jr. All-State.  It's available at: www.wmea.org under "student events". We'll be recording your audition in early October (see calendar below).

 

  

        July:        

        29, "Anything Goes" pit rehearsal at Kirkland Performance Center, 6:00pm-10:00pm

        30, "Anything Goes" PERFORMANCE begins at 7:30pm at KPC

        31, "Anything Goes" PERFORMANCES begin at 2:30 and 7:30pm at KPC

 

        August:

        1, "Anything Goes" PERFORMANCE begins at 2:30pm at KPC

 

        September:

        7,8,9 Intro to Band assemblies at Frost/Keller/Muir

        9, Elementary Band orientation. Drop in any time between 6:30-8:30pm to meet the directors, see the band room, try the trumpet, trombone, clarinet or flute (or all four!)  A local music store will be on site to answer questions, rent instruments, purchase a band book, etc. 

        10, our FIRST DAY of 6th grade "Intermediate Band!"  You won't need instruments or books for this first day - just come and fill out a new Registration Sheet!

        16, our FIRST DAY of 5th grade "Beginning Band!"  No instruments or band books are needed and transportation back to Frost and Keller will be provided. If you mailed in a Pre-Registration Sheet, I'll already have you on file but if you didn't, then simply show up and we'll take care of it!  Class is from 8:15-9:00am.

13- 13-17, Auditions for Jazz Ensemble (see the Jazz Ensemble's page under "Junior High Band" on this website for information)

        27, Sub for all bands (Mr. B will be in Bellevue for a Jr. All-State Band meeting)

       

        October:

        5/6/7/8/11/12/13, After-school Jr. All-State and All-State recording sessions (sign up for a 30-minute time slot)

        14, Jr. All-State online application and auditions close

        27, 1st quarter recordings are due by 3:15pm

  

        November:

        2, 1st quarter Kamiakin Band concert, 7:30pm

        3, Notification of Jr. All-State acceptance!

        18, Elementary Band Concert (#1 of 3), 7:30pm [If you've ever earned a medal, wear it to all elementary band gigs!]

 

        December:

        10(unconfirmed), Wind Ensemble & Jazz Ensemble on Elementary Tour all day

        14(unconfirmed), Symphonic Band to Seattle Center's "Winterfest" all day

 

        January, 2011:

        13/20/25/27/31, Elementary and JH Honor Band rehearsals (elem = 6:30-8:00pm at LWHS; JH = 6:45-8:15 at RJH)

        14, 2nd quarter recordings are due by 3:15pm

        18, 2nd quarter Kamiakin Band concert, 7:30pm

 

        February:

        1, Junior High Honor Concert at Eastlake HS, 7:30pm

        3, Elementary Honor Concert at Lake Washington HS, 7:30pm

        12, High School (9th graders only) Solo/Ensemble Festival at Bothell HS all day

        17-20, Jr. All-State, All-State & All-Northwest groups rehearse and perform (schedule will be announced) in Bellevue

        24, Elementary Band concert (#2 of 3), 7:30pm [Honor Band members wear your medals tonight!]

 

        March:

        17(unconfirmed), 7th grade Concert Band to District Band Festival at Rose Hill JH all day

       

        April:

        4, 3rd quarter recordings are due by 3:15pm

        5, 3rd quarter Kamiakin Band concert, 7:30pm

        16, Junior high solo/ensemble festival at Kamiakin all day

        25(unconfirmed), 6th grade Intermediate Band to "The Theaters of Seattle" all day

 

     May:

        3(unconfirmed), Wind Ensemble to George Fox University from 5:00am-midnight

        26, final Elementary Band concert, 7:30pm [Don't forget to wear your medals!]

        27, final GOODBYE to both elementary bands, 8:15-9:00am

        31, 5th grade saxophone clinic for those switching from clarinet to saxophone, 8:15-9:00am (#1 of 2)

        31, final Kamiakin Band concert, 7:30pm

  

        June:

        1, a.m. music assembly for student body, 8:30-9:45am. Turn in uniforms & music during class time.

        2, 5th grade saxophone clinic, 8:15-9:00am (#2 of 2)

        2 & 3, sightreading in all bands (final days of needing instruments)

        6-10, Showing "West Side Story" in all bands (no instruments needed)

        9, Final band recordings are due by 3:15pm
